About Us

Meet the team!

Amy and Virginia

When things are done out of passion, there’s a good chance that they’ll be done correctly. That’s exactly how Sew Works came to be. Generations of knowledge, practice, and perfection slowly crafted Amy and Virginia into the sewing seamstresses they are today, with the sole purpose of providing you with any custom embroidery job you could throw at them.

As a young girl, Virginia was fascinated with the art of sewing and eventually took it upon herself to learn from her grandmother. When she was older, she became lucky enough to have the opportunity to teach her own daughter who would enjoy it so much, making it a career was the only logical option.

After growing up and having a daughter of her own, Amy invested in an embroidery machine, with the original intent to make baby items. When word of mouth got around about the quality of work that she had been doing, outside demands were quick to follow. It didn’t take long for this passion to grow into doing craft shows and now their own store in Park City, just north of Wichita!

With the business growing and projects needing more time, Virginia and Amy needed their own team of makers…

Martha is a retired English teacher from the Wichita schools who has really been able to hone her sewing and quilting skills over the years.  Through her true passion of Quilts of Valor (QOV), she has endless knowledge about quilting and the skills for piecing, long-arm quilting, and free-motion quilting.  If you ask her nicely, maybe she’ll make you one of her custom T-shirt quilts!

Mary is a young aerospace engineer, but she already has almost 20 years of sewing under her belt (thanks to her mother and grandmother).  After finishing school in Wichita, she’s been endlessly designing and executing custom quilt designs.  She’s capable of making almost anything due to her crazy-scientist mind.  If you’re up for it, give her a shout!

Angie learned how to sew from her mother, and unconsciously passed it on to her daughter Mary.  She paid for college doing wedding dress alterations and the like, and then started looking into embroidery and digitizing (once she figured she had to share her sewing room).  Now as an empty-nester, she’s adding bag making to her repertoire!  She is soon to become Wichita’s next hot topic!
